We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Drew's family in Stafford on Thursday. We drove up Thursday morning, since Drew had to work on Wednesday a bit, and had dinner with his parents, sister, her 3 children, and Drew's amazing 99 year old grandmother. Mom-mom, as they call her, still has all of her wits about her, and is still a sharp old lady. She broke her hip a few months ago, but has bounced back remarkably well. She is back to walking and moving around with the assistance of a walker that she swears she does not need. :) She's quite a lady. We spent the night at his parent's house that evening, and came back home yesterday afternoon. This is our first weekend of "down time" in months. It has been so refreshing to get to tend to the little things in our home, our marriage, ourselves that have needed tending for quite some time, but have been pushed to the back burner as more urgent things come up. Tonight, we will do some parent-prep reading (Shepherding a Child's Heart), and enjoy our newly decorated family room (another of the things we have gotten done this weekend) with some good conversation, dessert, and reading. These relaxing weekends only come along once every few months, so they are treasured that much more when they come.
