Fun Nursery Planning

One of the more fun elements of pregnancy is starting to plan the space that we'll carve out for our little one. We can't really start furnishing and decorating yet, but I am trying to come up with some direction for his room to take. It is already painted a light blue, so we will probably just try to get away with not painting it another color, since it's already boy appropriate. :) Or we may add a few stripes or polka dots here and there, just for fun. I also thought of getting a wall sticker to give a fun little graphic of some sort on the wall. I have lots of ideas, now I just need to choose ONE direction to move towards. One idea was to take a children's book that we like, and use that as our inspiration, so to speak. I thought Five Little Monkeys Jumping on a Bed would be appropriate, since our little monkey seems to like to jump around inside of me. I think he is getting some practice in the womb for future bed-jumping. And, there's always the classic Goodnight Moon that could be an option. Then, my brain went to nursery rhymes. Perhaps Little Boy Blue, or Hey Diddle Diddle. I have ideas for both of those, as well. Hey Diddle Diddle seems quite fun in my head, but it could be difficult to pull all of the elements together to make a unified look that makes any sense once decorated. But, I do enjoy the oddness of all of the elements -- cats and dogs, cows and moons, a fiddle, a plate and a spoon. :) Sounds fun, right? Or, I could do something less complicated. I think a lot of the owl decor, bedding, etc... that you see is cute. Our very first idea was to do a sort of mountain-themed nursery -- a tribute of sorts to our time in Colorado. But, as it turns out -- there just aren't many cute options out there for children in this area. I looked for bedding or decor with mountain animals on them, and all I got were some pretty unattractive options. I thought of just going simple on the bedding (plaid, perhaps?), and trying to bring in the mountain theme with other elements. So, that is still on the table, but a little harder to pull off, I think. It's fun just to brain storm, though. Now, if only I could commit to one idea and run with it...
