This and That

A lot of people have asked me since Drew came home, "How is it going, having your husband home?" He's been back for about 2 1/2 weeks now, and all I can say is it is truly wonderful. Having him gone for so long really makes me appreciate his presence that much more when he's home, and it helps to put into perspective the things that I want vs. the things that I need from him. I really hope that these and other things that I have learned/grown in over the course of the last 4 years stick with me, and that God only continues to teach me to be the person/wife/friend, etc... that he would have me be. Believe you me, I know I still have a long way to go. It's by God's grace and mercy that I'm not the person I was 4 years ago, or even 15 months ago, and it is also by his grace that he will not leave me where I'm at for the future.

We've done a lot of "little" things since Drew came home. We've just sort of been taking it all at a nice slow pace this time -- no mad rushes to get our to-do-now-that-he's-home lists checked off. That's been really nice. I think one reason that we feel more freedom to take this at the pace we'd like is that we don't have another deployment (and all of the time away for training that comes with it) in just a few months. Drew has been working mostly half days, so we've had time to do a few little house projects. And, we got new bedroom furniture (pictures below), which we were QUITE excited about. We've been wanting to post some before/after shots of some of the rooms in our house for ohhh... about a year now. But, that requires remembering to take pictures when I have the house really clean, and that hasn't happened yet. We've put the most work into the master bedroom. It finally looks like a nice, cozy place that you'd actually WANT to sleep.

And, lastly, with March comes a string of birthdays in our family, which is really fun! Drew's 26th is this Saturday (more to come on those celebrations:-). His sister's birthday comes on the 16th, and my brother's on the 17th -- St. Patrick's Day. I guess it's time to do some birthday shopping/mailing. :+)
