Oh, Christmas Travels...

I've had an interesting morning/early afternoon.  I woke up this morning, made my coffee, put a little breakfast together, and sat down to enjoy those, while checking e-mail, news, etc...  I opened an e-mail from expedia -- a confirmation of my travels back to Virginia for Christmas.  I glanced over it, and to my horror, saw that my flight returning back to Colorado Springs was not booked for December 27, as I had planned, but instead was booked for June 27, 2009.  AH!  Nothing like finding out your booked for the wrong travel day, during the busiest travel time of the year, 3 days before you're supposed to be leaving.  So, I immediately called expedia to try to sort it out.  I fully expected that it would be an expensive fix.  Sure enough -- after sitting on hold for 30 minutes, I finally talked with someone who said it would be an additional $1000 to fix it, as I would have to pay a fee, and would have to pay the difference between the ticket costs.  Yikes.  I was given another option of taking a credit to book with American Airlines, through expedia, in the amount of the ticket, and just canceling my current reservation.  That sounded like a better deal, because I could rebook using that credit, for a different time, flying into an airport that is cheaper, and pay a much much smaller difference (about $700 cheaper, in fact).  As I type this, I'm sitting on hold, again, with expedia.  This phone call has already lasted over an hour, most of which has been spent on hold.  The last I spoke with the lady who has been helping me, she warned me that this would be a long time on hold, as she had tech folks coming up to assist her with an "error" with her computer.  I thought I'd use the time on hold to be productive.  So, at one point, I had two phones to my ear (one to each ear, really) -- one with a local restaurant, making reservations for myself and some friends for this evening, and the other, of course, with expedia.  And, of course, I got put on hold with the restaurant, as well.  So, I stood there for about 5 minutes, listening to two terrible "on-hold" songs at the same time, and I just had to laugh at the way this day is going, and the fact that I was on two calls at once, was talking to no one.  One had terrible italian music playing, and the other had terrible elevator-type music playing.  Ah, the lovely sounds of a stressful morning. :-)  Merry Christmas to me!  I'll just keep trying to find the humor in it.  ha.
