Success!!

If you've been reading our blog for a while, you may remember a post that I wrote sometime last fall about our neighbor's dog, Kiley, who was actively working on a tunnel into our yard, so that she and Toby could play together. I said, and I quote, "However, any day now, I fully expect to look out the window and see a little Golden Retriever, named Kiley, standing in our backyard." Well...that day came yesterday. That's right folks -- Kiley made it into our yard, through her under-the-fence tunnel. Success! I looked out the window to check on Toby (because you never know what that trouble-maker might be up to), and I saw him running full speed across the yard, with the little Golden Retriever trailing along behind him. She worked so long and hard on her tunnel, and they were having such a great time together, that I just let them play for a few minutes before I went out and got her. But, her time to go home had to come. So, I put Kiley on a leash and walked her back over to the neighbor's house. You get some looks of confusion when you show up at your neighbor's front door with their dog, who they thought was in their backyard. We just shared a good laugh about it, though. We'll figure out a fix for the big hole under the fence, but Kiley has shown that with a little perseverance, she can make it into our yard. So, I wonder if this is the last we will be seeing of Miss Kiley?? I would be up for installing some sort of little doggie door, so they could be friends and play often -- and have twice the yard space to play in! But, I'm not so sure the neighbors want our hyperactive dog in their backyard. :) Anyway -- here are some pictures of Kiley's remarkable tunnel, and of Toby and Kiley playing together right after I discovered her. And yes, the landscaping and weeds (probably mostly weeds, though) are shamefully overgrown in the backyard right now. :) I confess. And, for those of you in Virginia -- Spring does not arrive in Colorado until long after it does in Virginia, so the grass here IS still brown, but I can't wait to see a little bit of green when I'm there visiting next week!

Aww hahaha! Puppies are funny. :) Maybe your neighbor will let them keep their friendship tunnel...I'm sure it will provide hours of fun and entertainment for everyone. Love you Suzy!
