One year ago today...

One year ago today, we were driving home from an overnight trip to Craig, CO to pick up a little 8-week-old Toby from the breeder. It was a beautiful drive, and considering the weather over the last few days this year, I'm very glad that the weather cooperated for us to make that long drive across and up the state. I was remembering the details of the trip today -- the shady motel we stayed in (there were only 2 options in Craig -- Holiday Inn and Motel 6), eating breakfast at the fanciest McDonald's we've ever seen (which seemed a bit out of place when considering the rest of the town), and our deceptively calm puppy on the morning that we met him. He didn't want to play, like the other puppies; he just wanted to snuggle up to us. The breeder told us we had gotten the "calm one". For any of you who have met Toby, you know that "calm" isn't really the first word that comes to mind when describing him these days. I guess some traits don't stick. Despite all of his craziness, I must say, I've warmed up to him a lot over the last few months. He's calming down...slowly
