Outdoor Runs -- Another Casualty of the Snowy, Cold Winter

I don't like treadmills. Besides the obvious fact that I'm entertaining and exercising myself in much the same way that a hamster does (and that is a strange thing in my book), I just don't like the feeling of running a lot but never actually getting anywhere. But, I do find that I love to run. I just like to pass houses and birds and squirrels as I do it, and I've even had the occassional neighbor's dog attempting to come on my run with me, as they've seen me passing by. (sidenote: one of my neighbors once had her very large dog out in the yard with her while she was doing some gardening. The dog came up and ran alongside me for a moment, and I saw that she had a little dog's tool belt strapped around him. It was holding all of her gardening tools. I thought it was a clever way to store gardening tools while working, but when you're tool belt has a tendancy to run off and chase runners, walkers, other dogs, or whatever else goes passing by the house, maybe not the most practical thing. I was just fascinated by this invention. Who comes up with this stuff??) Anyway...moving on...with the weather being as cold and snowy as it has this winter, I've resorted to the treadmill at a local Y to get my running fix. But, it's just not the same. I find myself frustrated by the fact that, at the end of my exercise, I've run multiple miles, without ever changing scenery or actually moving from one spot. I guess I'll just keep trying to convince myself that I am actually getting somewhere during these runs. Destination: health, fitness, and staying in shape for the time when I can actually run in the out-of-doors again.

And that is the most interesting thing I can think to write about today. I hope you feel enlightened by this discussion of treadmills, dogs with gardening tool belts and running. Not that people generally respond a whole lot when I do pose questions on here, but I'd be curious to know: what's one of the strangest things you've ever seen or encountered while on a run, at the gym, etc...?? Leave it under comments, if you feel like contributing. :)
