Me oh my!!!! 3 whole blog posts in the course of less than a month! I've suddenly gotten my energy back. I thought I had it back before. I didn't. Maybe in a few months I'll be saying, "I thought I had it back in August...but I didn't." But, I'll just take the energy I have and enjoy it.
I also have my creative energy back. (Look out Drew! You know what happens when I start getting ideas! We end up elbow deep in some new project that may or may not turn out. Exhibit A for the not turning out: still unfinished headboard for the guest bed that I sanded uhhh... 2 1/2 years ago...still in our shed now...not done.) But, the new ideas have started flowing, and I'm a planner by nature, so I'm loving it. Now, the time to implement all of the ideas might still be lacking. But, that's one of the reasons I record the ideas in Pages documents, on my Pinterest page (if you're looking for a super easy way to catalog ideas, recipes, etc. that you find online in one spot, Pinterest is great for that!), and here on the trusty 'ole blog.
Do you ever feel like you're channeling someone else in your blog writing...like you're writing with your own voice, but someone else's as well?? Today, I feel a bit like I'm channeling my inner Ree Drummond. Hmm...weird. That is all on that topic -- back to my creative energy being back.
Plans in the works thus far (and, by "in the works," I mean in the works in my head): boring bare walls be gone!!! We haven't had much art/decor on our walls since moving into this house. Mainly because we didn't have the money to go out and buy a whole bunch of stuff to hang. So, we waited. Which is good. Because we didn't end up spending our money on just "space-fillers". The hope is that we'll really LIKE what we hang when we get to it. So, we were out at our favorite local home consignment store the other day, and I found dingy old green shutters that I pretty much love. I convinced Drew that they were a wise investment. Let's hope I was right. My idea is to hang them on a massive, open, empty wall in our living room with some framed photographs, and vintage maps of the places we've lived in between. We also have a large, empty wall in our family room. If you've seen our family room, you know that it is oddly shaped. It's a large rectangle. With a beautiful fireplace, placed just in the right spot that you can't enjoy sitting in front of the fireplace unless you are sitting on the floor. Because there is no room for chairs without having them oddly placed right in the middle of one side of the rectangle. (It's hard to picture, I know...if we do this project, I'll have to post before pictures so that it makes sense.) My idea is to build a bench with storage in it for games, toys, etc... to go on the big open wall right beside our fireplace. We can find or make a cushion for it, and put some fun pillows on it so you don't have to sit up against a hard wall if you're sitting there. (This is where I begin to warn my husband...because I do not know how to use the tools to make such a bench. Hammer and nails...got it. Screwdrivers, wrenches, etc...I'm on it. Sander...no problem. Saws, and nearly all other power tools....I'm helpless.) Anyway -- that's my BIG project idea. Others are just smaller wall decor ideas that I CAN do on my own...framing some pretty fabric, and possibly a wall collage of spray painted ceiling medallions? We'll see. It's like I haven't had the energy to think about this sort of thing for months...and all of a sudden, I'm making up for lost time. I love it though. L-O-V-E it! Like I said, I'm a planner by nature -- generally, I have to have something to plan or I feel antsy. Unless I've just had a baby, apparently. :)
