Oh, yeah -- Christmas is coming!

What a December we have had! We did purchase the home in our previous post (pictures to come soon), and moved in (sort of -- we're still working on the moving in). Drew started his new job 2 days after we closed. He was supposed to start the day after, but his boss was gracious enough to offer him his first day of work off, once he heard we were closing on a home the day before Drew was supposed to start work. We painted our first rooms in the house over the first couple of days that we lived here (our office and guest bedroom), and drove a big U-Haul truck down to Newport News PACKED FULL of all of our stuff last weekend. With the help of some friends and family, we managed to get the U-haul loaded, make the drive down from King George, and get the truck unloaded all in one day. It was a long and exhausting day, but we made it! :) This week has seen a lot of unpacking and getting settled. We're officially done with painting until after the holidays. We'll tackle paint in the living room, hall, and dining room the week after Christmas. We took the opportunity to go get our first REAL Christmas tree (because we actually get to celebrate Christmas ON Christmas this year!) this week. The tree lot that we purchased from named their trees -- each has a little nametag. So, we purchased Frank and brought him home to decorate him on Wednesday night. With the help of my friend, Beth, I was able to finish decorating yesterday (well, at least, decorating with those decorations that we have been able to find amidst all of the boxes so far). We are starting to feel a little bit more like Christmas is coming, with the house looking a little more festive. I didn't even start any of our shopping until this week. Yikes! December is really a crazy time to move.

So, I realize that this post is not very well-constructed, and lacks a very clear flow. :) But, that is our life right now, I suppose. It's just the relatively boring "getting settled into a new place" routine, and trying to do the Christmas season thing (and get to enjoy it a little!) in the midst of it all. But, we certainly do wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS, as we are so thankful for the birth of King Jesus, our Savior that we celebrate his birth and the hope that he brings for two sinners like us. Hallelujah and Amen. :)
