Book Recommendations?

Two female figures in history that I would like to learn more about are Sarah Edwards and Abigail Adams. I'm looking for recommendations of good biographies on either. I recently read Noel Piper's short little chapter on Sarah Edwards in her book, Faithful Women and Their Extraordinary God, so I'm looking for something longer and more in-depth than that. Have any of you read any that you would recommend? The other -- Abigail Adams -- comes about because we finally got around to watching the John Adams HBO series recently, and I'd like to do some more reading about both of them (John and Abigail, that is). For what it's worth, we would heartily recommend this series. It is incredibly well done. For each of these people, I am looking for biographies that are as true-to-life as they can be. I have shied away from reading many biographies over the years because they so often tend to see the subject's life through rose-colored glasses, and write as such. There are some very good biographies out there, though, so I figured I would ask for your help in searching for the good ones, so I don't waste my time on bad ones. :+)

like the new look on the blog, by the way. Sorry I don't have any recommendations. Haven't read any on either of these women, but I look forward to seeing what others recommend!

I've been looking for a good Sarah Edwards bio for a while, so I don't have any reccomendations there, but I read a bio on Elizabeth Prentiss last year and really enjoyed it...I even read her own book afterward. Might want to check it out. Stepping Heavenward is her book and Elizabeth Prentiss: More Love to Thee is the bio. Just a thought.

Thanks for the recommendation, Lauren! I'll have to check her out. I'll let you know if I find a good one on Sarah Edwards.
