Updating the upstairs/master bath

So, we have a goal to get our house on the market by this coming weekend -- our deadline for ourselves is the 15th. We have been making a lot of improvements around the house, but we've put the most personal work into our upstairs/master bath. Our home is a rancher with a finished basement, and the master bedroom is on the main level, so we share a bathroom with the main level of the house. That means that the master bath is also the bathroom that company uses, and is visible from other areas of the house. We knew that this bathroom was quite outdated, and as with a lot of home improvement projects, we intended to update it earlier, but never got around to it. I'll have to find a good "before" picture. But, let me just describe it by saying that it had dark grey countertops, mismatched white cabinets (i.e. the cabinets and drawers were different shades of white), a light grey sink, light grey toilet, and simple, outdated lighting. It was a step back into what was, apparently, a popular color scheme of the 80's that included back, grey, white, and hints of mauve. Our realtors agreed that this room would be a good one to fix up a little before we put the house on the market. :-) So, that's been our big project this weekend. We tore out the old lighting fixture (well, I should say, Drew tore out the old lighting fixture :-), cabinets, countertop, sink, and toilet. We took everything off the walls so we could give the room a fresh coat of paint, too. The pictures below will show the nice little surprise that we found under the cabinets -- the original flooring from the bathroom. And, of course, the new cabinet that we purchased isn't quite large enough to cover that little spot, so now we get to redo the flooring, too. We were hoping to avoid that. I guess that's how any little project like this goes, though -- isn't there a saying about it always taking twice as long as you thought it would, and costing twice as much?
