I absolutely love Colorado during this time of year -- the Aspen trees are gorgeous, as their leaves turn a bright yellow. You can see some incredible autumn colors, if you drive west into the mountains a ways. We've twice tried to capture some photos of that -- and twice failed to catch them at just the right time of year. Maybe we'll be here to try again next year? Or maybe if I get out in the next few days, I'll get some this year. Who knows? I only wish that winter didn't come on so soon here. I'm a little surprised that we haven't seen any snowflakes yet (glad, but surprised), but I know that they aren't long off.
Well, the last few weeks have been busy, but pretty good, I suppose. I've started up my own little home-based business, selling lia sophia jewelry! It wasn't something I was planning on doing. I sort of stumbled into it, and it just seemed like the right thing, at the right time. It's been a lot of fun so far, and I'm hoping it can be just a little extra income for us, as we're approaching a big transitional time in our life, yet again (more to come on that in the coming months, I'm sure). I would appreciate your prayers for that effort, though. It's definitely something that pushes me out of my little "introvert's box" -- forces me to meet and talk with lots of new people. That is, sometimes, a little hard for someone like me. Enjoyable and good -- but hard. If you want to check out more about this company, the fantastic jewelry I sell, or even book a show with me, I'd love it if you went to my website, (www.liasophia.com/suzyshirk) and contacted me, if you like what you see!
The last new and exciting thing that I can think to share is that I'm headed back to Virginia to visit friends and family at the end of the month! If you've talked with me at much length over the last few months (or even read our blog), you know I've been a bit homesick for Virginia. I do love it here, but it's been hard to miss so many big events and experiences in the lives of our friends and family there. BUT, I will be able to make it to the baby shower of a dear friend on this trip (it's her first baby, and I'm so excited to be able to celebrate with her!), and that makes me very happy. And I will be sticking around a few days longer than usual (seems the 3 day trips have been all I/we've been able to swing in the last year or so, and any trip home at Christmas will probably just be another 3 day trip), so I'm hoping to get a little more quality time with friends and family on this one.
Well -- I think that's the basics of life right now, here in Colorado. Drew continues to hang in there, and is taking it one day at a time. It's been a long, hard 10+ months (as is expected), and we have about 5 more to go. He will actually have been there a little over 15 months, if he comes home when we're expecting him to. We're expecting that, because of his job, he will be of the "first in -- last out" variety. We can just hope and pray he's home a little sooner, but we're preparing ourselves for the longest possibilities, as that's how it is looking it will be right now.
That's all for now -- Happy Fall, folks!
