Well, things around here have been busy lately, but not very interesting. So, I'm sort of lacking in material-worth-reading for the blog. But, I'll go ahead and write something anyway.
One kind of strange thing that happened last week -- I found a neighbor's dog in our dog run, which is positioned on the side of our house where the garage is, and there are no windows. I guess their dog had gotten out, and for whatever reason, some passerby who found him decided to put him in our dog run. Now, they didn't leave me any indication that they had put a dog in this dog run, and we never use it, so it was, I believe, days before I found him. When the dog was finally returned to his family, I asked when he had gone missing. They said "Sunday". It was now Wednesday. And my mind immediately went back to Toby's strange new-found interest in the dog run.....that began on Sunday. He would paw at the fence door to the dog run, and bark. I thought it was because I had a friend back there, helping with some yard work on Saturday, and the dog thought maybe there was just always someone hanging out in the dog run. I also thought I had seen something moving in the dog run on Monday, but just didn't really entertain the thought long enough to check on it. I mean, why would there be something in our dog run?? Anyway -- all of these things combined lead me to believe that our neighbor's (not the owners of Kiley, the digger, but someone two doors down from us) 14-yr. old golden retriever had been in our dog run for 3 days, and hadn't made a peep to let me know he was back there until Wednesday. No food, no water. Poor little guy. I'm just glad he's safe and sound, back with his loving family again.
Well -- I have quite a bit of grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning to finish up today. I have a cousin flying in from Pennsylvania tomorrow. She'll be visiting for a week -- it'll be good to get to show her our beautiful town, and hopefully get out on a couple of hikes with her and Toby. I hope you all enjoy your Memorial Day weekend, and remember to remember those who have made great sacrifices for our nation.
